Message, Authority, and Instruction- Part 6 – Identify and Be Identified

Message, Authority, and Instruction- Part 6 – Identify and Be Identified

“When you are arrested, don’t worry about how to respond or what to say. God will give you the right words at the right time. For it is not you who will be speaking—it will be the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.”

Matthew 10:19-20 NLT

The 10th chapter of Matthew recounts the specific message, authority, and instructions the 12 disciples will need as they travel throughout Israel sharing the coming of the Kingdom of God through Jesus Christ.

Reflection

Part 6 focuses on a boldness and acceptance that happens when we share the message of the coming of the Kingdom of God through Jesus Christ.

  • Be bold in sharing what I have showed and told you: “What I tell you now in the darkness, shout abroad when daybreak comes. What I whisper in your ear, shout from the housetops for all to hear!”

We are not meant to be shy with this incredible message. It is meant to be a part of what we share and live with others every day. We are looking for opportunities to let others know what Jesus Christ has come to do for them.

  • Be accepted by God through Christ: Everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. But everyone who denies me here on earth, I will also deny before my Father in heaven.” Matthew 10:27, 32-33 NLT.

There is an acceptance of who we are in Christ with God when we identify with him as being a follower of Christ. It is not something we deny or keep in the shadows with. We bring our life in Christ in the fullness of the light of our own everyday world with those we live, play, and work with.

Encouragement

We identify with Christ in this world by sharing his message of salvation, forgiveness, and freedom from sin as we go through everyday life here.

We are identified by Christ to God as being accepted into God’s presence forever for making him known to others here on earth.

Prayer

Dear Jesus,

Thank you for instructing us to be bold in sharing your message of salvation, forgiveness, and freedom from sin.

Thank you letting us see the connection of identifying with you publicly here and being identified to God by you as being part of the Kingdom of God forever.

Thank yo that our true identity is in you.

In your name, Jesus, we pray,

Amen

Ed McDowell
