“God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth.”

What comes to the humble is incredible.
Reflection
I have come to love the word humble. I love it for what it doesn’t mean:
Proud, self-seeking, scheming, pushy, demanding, looking out for #1, status focused, and the insistence of being the brightest and best in the room.
Honestly, it is exhausting to live and work with people where humility is not present.
By contrast, it is refreshing to work where people are humble, care and have mutual respect. It takes far less energy to be in an environment of humility. It is life-giving, simple, and refreshing.
When one is humble, others are listened to and valued. It’s not about the most important seat, status or authority. It is about making sure we are doing life together, caring for each other, deferring to the wellbeing of each other.
Being humble reflects honesty. It allows for vulnerability. Trust thrives in humble relationships. Forgiveness and love flow freely.
Jesus says that the whole earth responds and comes to the humble one.
Encouragement
When Jesus says “I am the way the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father but by me”, he is speaking truth with humility.
Think about it. He left all status, position, and comfort to come from divine perfection into an environment of sin and brokenness. He keeps saying to all of us, “put all your sin and brokenness on me.”
He doesn’t ask us to keep him safe or protect him. Rather, Christ invites us to take his humble sacrifice and find the fullness of earth and heaven by living with God forever!
So much freedom for the humble.
Prayer
Dear Jesus,
Thank you for your words on the blessing God gives to the humble.
Our repentance of sin is an act of humility in accepting your humble sacrifice for us.
Thank you for how light the load is to be humble.
Even as you give authority and responsibility to us for your work, may we never grasp it as our own.
All we have is a gift and blessing from you.
Please let us be humble stewards of this beautiful life you have gifted us.
In your name, Jesus, we pray,
Amen
