“Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant.”
Galatians 6:7 NLT

Paul is reminding us that the law of the harvest applies to what we plant with our lives every day.
Reflection
We know the law of the harvest. If you plant corn, it is corn that will grow. Planting means the seeds one plants for something to grow. The crop is the multiplied result of what is planted.
Paul is reminding us of the significance of what we plant will have a multiplied result in our lives. If we are honest, the crop (or result) will be an abundance of honesty and integrity, earning the trust of others. If we are reliable, our harvest will be someone people can count on.
This also works in a negative direction. If we are planting porn into our lives, a life-destructive sexual addiction will be the crop that destroys meaningful relationships with everyone over time. If we plant deceitfulness, our crop will be distrust.
The law of the harvest is as true as the law of gravity.
Encouragement
What are the seeds you are planting? What is the crop those seeds will produce?
Sometimes, a farmer will plow up a field because of a bad seed. Bad seeds result in bad crops, and farmers want good crops.
There may be seeds we are planting in our own lives that are not good. Like the farmer, we may need to “plow up” the field of our lives so those bad seeds don’t grow into a bad crop.
Ask for the Holy Spirit’s help in plowing up bad seeds.
Through Christ, focus on planting good seeds in your life. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you tend to the good seed so there will be an abundance of God’s goodness coming from your life.
By following Christ, our lives have the opportunity of planting the best seeds that will produce the very best of the Kingdom of God for others to enjoy.
Prayer
Dear Jesus,
Thank you for reminding us of the law of the harvest.
Holy Spirit, help us to stop planting seeds that produce a harvest of destruction and damage to ourselves and others.
Help us to plant the life-giving seeds of love, forgiveness, truth, compassion, grace, mercy, gentleness, personal responsibility, and faith in you. Let there be a crop of abundance for many to benefit from.
In your name, Jesus, we pray,
Amen
